Visit to the “Vinhos Castro” winery

Castro is a typical family-run company and its origins lie with Joaquim Marinho de Azevedo, who bought the first estate in 1967 - Quinta de Rabuços. This estate, located in the parish of Vermoim, already had more than 283 years of history. With the purchase of this farm, Joaquim Marinho de Azevedo was able to take the first steps in the production of grapes and wine.

In 1989, with the help of his youngest son Gaspar Filipe Pereira Marinho, they dedicated themselves solely and exclusively to the production of grapes and wines on the properties, and from then on the history of Castro Vinhos de Portugal began.

The winery is now over 3,500 square meters, and the tasting room is almost 1,000 square meters. Wine production can reach over 900 tons of grapes and another 800,000 liters of wine. With around 100 hectares of its own production, perfectly supporting the national market and with ample capacity to supply a good part of its international expectations, Castro excels in the quality and innovation of its wines and is a company that seeks to differentiate itself in the world of vinho verde (green wine).
